Building confidence in parenting and positive family relationships.

Parenting can be really rewarding but also really hard at times. The Nurturing Programme is a Supportive Parenting Programme that aims to improve the emotional health of both adults and children and strengthen family relationships.
During the programme you will learn positive ways of helping children handle their feelings and behaviour and cover the following topics:

  1. Giving Praise; The Question of Discipline; Time to Calm Down; Parenting Styles and Family Rules
  2. Rewards and Penalties; Personal Power; Self-esteem; Choices and Consequences
  3. Feelings... and What We Do With Them; Communicating Clearly and Using “I” Statements;
  4. Nurturing Ourselves; Ages and Stages in Child Development; Keeping Children Safe; Problem Solving and Negotiating

The sessions are delivered by trained and experienced workers that provide a friendly, supportive space to share concerns and develop new skills.

“Is the Nurturing Programme suitable for parents with children who have additional needs?”
The Centre of Emotional Health state that The Nurturing Programme is broad and inclusive. It is designed and delivered in a way that enables you to consider how the content best relates to your child(ren) and their own individual needs. This includes children with any additional needs, diagnosed or undiagnosed.
The programme doesn’t cover specifics such as ASC and ADHD, but the focus on our own emotional health, and how we can empathise with our children is an effective way of adding another level of support.

Family Feedback:
Here’s what some of our families have told us after completing the programme:

“Thank you for giving me the tools to be able to understand my child and his emotions and why he could be feeling a certain way!”

“Sad the course is coming to an end soon, it has been very helpful in giving ideas and strategies to get positive results and behaviours from my child.”

“Everyone is friendly and everyone has made progress, and the staff running it are really calm, relaxed and helpful.”
