Supporting Parent Relationships by reducing conflict

Children who experience positive and productive relationships are more likely to feel settled and have good social and emotional wellbeing.

Families come in all shapes and sizes, and parental conflict can occur in all types of families: between biological parents, step parents, foster and adoptive parents, parents and grandparents and separated and divorced parents to name just a few.

Children don’t come with a parenting manual, so an important part of shared parenting is discovering together what works best for you as a family. Celebrating what is going well and talking about what may need changing will help you communicate in an open and honest way.

There are many things we can do to reduce the amount of conflict in our relationships.

Love Matters

Love Matters; Katie and Natasha, aim to support individuals, couples and families, to nurture their relationships, using evidence based workshops and courses for families on the Isle of Wight:

Making Relationships Work.

These evidence-based workshops will help you:

  • Improve communication and understanding
  • Build friendship, emotional intimacy and trust
  • Regulate conflicts with confidence and care
On line and in person dates throughout the year, fully funded by Isle of Wight Council.

It’s a mix of short teaching, private couple exercises, guided activities, and relationship skill practice — all designed to be very practical and easy to apply without lots of deep therapy. It's friendly for couples who aren’t in "crisis" but want to improve or protect their relationship.
